Welcome
to The Turks and Caicos Islands The Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) are named after the indigenous
Turk's Head "fez" cactus, and the Lucayan term "caya hico" meaning
string of islands. There are eight islands and dozens of cays (pronounced keys) dotted
throughout the waters. Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Crown Colony and is
self-governed by one of two elected parties. TCI boasts a year-round perfect climate with
an abundance of sun, sand and sea. Once you have been a visitor to the islands you will
return again and again to this paradise where many choose to make their home, or their
home away from home for part of the year - usually the winter months. Although Grand Turk
is the capital of the country, the island of Providenciales is the main economic center.
The island's rapid emergence as a world-class tourist destination has fueled enviable
annual growth and provides a high standard of living for inhabitants. There is an
international airport on Provo that welcomes 45+ flights per week from around the world
and just a 90-minute flight south from Miami, Florida. There are no taxes, so the country
is an important offshore financial center and has had the highest growth rate in the
Caribbean at the turn of the century. English is the official language and currency is US
dollar. The people are warm and welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed and tranquil on our
sunny Caribbean islands.
